The G7 Summit will take place in Evian from 14th to 16th June 2026, bringing world leaders, international delegations and one of the largest security operations ever seen in the Haute-Savoie region.
Although the summit itself will be held in Evian, visitors to Morzine, Avoriaz and the wider Portes du Soleil area may notice some changes in the weeks leading up to the event.
What is the G7 Summit?
The G7 (Group of Seven) is an annual meeting of leaders from some of the world’s largest economies, including France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Canada, Japan and the United States.
The summit provides an opportunity for world leaders to discuss major global issues, economic policy and international cooperation.

How Could the G7 Affect Morzine?
A significant security operation will be deployed across the region, with thousands of police officers, gendarmes and security personnel expected to be based throughout the Chablais area during June 2026.
Visitors may experience:
- Increased police and security presence
- Temporary traffic restrictions in parts of Haute-Savoie
- Potential impacts on travel routes around Lake Geneva
- Possible disruption to some flights arriving at or departing from Geneva Airport
At this stage, no specific restrictions have been announced for Morzine itself, but travellers are advised to allow extra time for journeys during this period.

Accommodation Demand in June 2026
Many accommodation providers across the region have been approached to house security personnel supporting the event. As a result, accommodation availability may be more limited than usual during early and mid-June 2026.
