From the opening of the Morzine and Portes du Soleil summer lifts to mountain biking, trail running and one of the biggest cycling events ever held in Haute-Savoie, Summer 2027 in Morzine is set to be a very special one.
Whether you’re coming to Morzine for mountain biking, hiking, a family mountain holiday or to watch the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships, here are the key dates you need to know.
Morzine Summer Lift Opening Dates 2027
For mountain bikers and walkers, the big question is always: when do the Morzine summer lifts open?
The current provisional dates published by Bike Morzine show Le Pléney opening for the weekend of 4–6 June 2027, followed by continuous summer opening from 11 June until 12 September 2027.
Super Morzine and Avoriaz are also currently expected to open from 11 June until 12 September.
The wider Portes du Soleil summer lift network is expected to operate from 25 June until 29 August, although a number of individual lifts and bike parks will remain open later into September and, in some cases, October.

These dates are currently provisional and are based on the equivalent 2026 operating dates. They will be updated once the resorts officially confirm their Summer 2027 schedules.
Mountain Biking in Morzine in Summer 2027
Morzine is right at the heart of one of the world’s largest lift-accessed mountain biking areas.
The Portes du Soleil offers around 600 km of trails, with more than 20 bike-friendly lifts linking bike parks and trails across both France and Switzerland.
From Morzine, riders can easily access Le Pléney, Super Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Les Lindarets, Châtel, Champéry, Les Crosets and Morgins.
And you don’t have to be an expert downhill rider. There are trails for different levels, e-bike routes, cross-country riding and plenty of mountain paths for those who prefer exploring at a slightly gentler pace.
UCI Cycling World Championships 2027 – Haute-Savoie
One of the biggest reasons to visit Morzine in Summer 2027 will be the UCI Cycling World Championships, taking place across Haute-Savoie from 24 August to 5 September 2027.
The event will bring together multiple cycling disciplines at venues across the region, with some of the biggest mountain bike competitions taking place just next door to Morzine in Les Gets.
UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Les Gets
The current programme includes:
27–28 August 2027 – Mountain Bike Downhill World Championship finals in Les Gets
2–4 September 2027 – Mountain Bike Cross-Country Olympic events in Les Gets.
With Morzine and Les Gets so closely connected, Morzine is an excellent base for spectators who want to enjoy the racing while staying in a lively Alpine town with restaurants, bars, shops and easy access to the mountains.
Accommodation around these dates is likely to be in particularly high demand, so anyone planning to visit for the Championships should consider booking well in advance.
Morzine Summer Events 2027
Several of Morzine’s major summer events already have confirmed dates for 2027.
Ultra Trail Morzine-Avoriaz – 19 June 2027
The Ultra Trail Morzine-Avoriaz RunThrough is currently scheduled for 19 June 2027, bringing trail runners into the mountains around Morzine and Avoriaz.
Spartan Morzine – 2–4 July 2027
Spartan Morzine returns from 2 to 4 July 2027, with competitors taking on obstacle races in and around the mountains.
Trail des Hauts Forts – 7 August 2027
One of Morzine’s established mountain running events, the Trail des Hauts Forts, is scheduled for 7 August 2027.
Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB 2027
The Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB is one of the highlights of the summer mountain bike calendar, taking riders around the Portes du Soleil using the lifts and trails linking France and Switzerland.
The 2027 dates have not yet been confirmed, so watch this space.

More Than Mountain Biking
You certainly don’t need to bring a bike to enjoy Morzine in summer.
The summer lifts make it easy to head high into the mountains for walking and hiking, while the valley offers plenty more to do.
Spend a day at Lac de Montriond, explore Morzine and the surrounding villages, take the lifts into the mountains for lunch, try an e-bike, go white-water rafting or simply enjoy the long summer evenings on a sunny terrace.
For families, Morzine also makes a great summer base, with plenty of activities both in the village and throughout the Portes du Soleil.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Morzine in Summer 2027?
It really depends on what you want from your holiday.
June is ideal for those looking for quieter trails and the start of the bike season.
July and August bring the full summer programme, the widest lift network and a busy Alpine atmosphere.
Late August and early September 2027 will be particularly exciting, with the UCI Cycling World Championships taking place across Haute-Savoie and the downhill and cross-country events being hosted in neighbouring Les Gets.
And if you’re visiting in September, Morzine’s main lifts are currently expected to continue operating until 12 September, making it a great option for a late-summer mountain break.
