The ski or snowboard option will depend on your level, the ages of your group, the type of lessons you are looking for and, importantly, where you plan to ski. Morzine, Les Gets or Avoriaz.

Below are some of the ski and snowboard schools and instructors we recommend in Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz.

Where should you take your lessons?

All of our properties offer easy access to both the Morzine–Les Gets and Avoriaz ski areas, but it is worth deciding where you are likely to spend most of your time before booking lessons.

For many skiers and snowboarders, Avoriaz is a great choice. Its high-altitude ski area offers a wide variety of pistes and terrain for different abilities, as well as excellent access to the wider Portes du Soleil.

For young children, complete beginners or nervous skiers, Morzine–Les Gets can sometimes be more convenient. The beginner areas are easily accessible and being closer to town can make shorter ski days, lunch stops and getting home a little easier.

We are always happy to advise based on where you are staying and the experience levels within your party.

Book your lessons in advance

We strongly recommend booking all ski and snowboard lessons directly with your chosen school before you arrive in Morzine, particularly during Christmas, New Year, February half-term and other peak weeks.

If several members of your party are taking lessons, try to book everyone in the same ski area. Having children and adults meeting instructors in different resorts can make mornings, lunchtime meet-ups and après-ski unnecessarily complicated.

The schools listed below offer qualified instructors, with options ranging from private lessons and small groups to freestyle, off-piste and performance coaching.

Off-Piste, Ski Touring & Cross-Country Skiing

If you want to venture away from the pistes, we recommend booking an appropriately qualified guide or instructor. There are some excellent options locally for off-piste skiing, ski touring, splitboarding and Nordic skiing:

Not sure which ski school to choose?

There is no ski school that is perfect for everyone. A family with young children may have very different requirements from a group of intermediate adults or experienced skiers looking for private coaching.

When choosing, consider:

  • the ski area closest to your accommodation;
  • the ages and abilities within your party;
  • whether you prefer private or group lessons;
  • your preferred lesson times;
  • whether everyone needs to meet in the same area;
  • and whether you are looking for general tuition or something more specialist, such as freestyle, off-piste or ski touring.

If you are staying with us and aren’t sure which school or ski area will suit you best, get in touch and we will be happy to point you in the right direction.
